Flaky woke up to the sound of her alarm clock beeping at her. Why did she buy that thing? She yawned and sat up. Today was her first year as a freshmen. Flaky got up and got dressed. She put on a black shirt and faded blue jeans. She ran to the bathroom. Flaky shut the door. She stood in front of the mirror.
"Stupid dandruff…" She mumbled to herself. Her quills were a beautiful color of red. You'd think that a cute young lady like her would get lots of guys. But no. She was timid and quiet, with lots of flaks in her quills. She ran a brush through her quills. Flaky sighed.
"Here we go…" She mumbled to herself. Just then, the doorbell rang.
"Lammy!" Flaky smiled. She ran downstairs.
"Bye mom." She called to her mom and walked outside. There was Lammy, her only friend since the sixth grade. She was wearing a light purple shirt with a white skirt. She giggled. Flaky tilted her head.
"Um… Lammy, whats so funny?" She asked nervously.
"You don't have your bag!" Lammy responded, giggling. Flaky blushed.
"Oh crap. Stay here." She ran inside and grabbed her bag.
"Ok." She said.
"Ready?" Lammy asked. Flaky nodded.
"Let's get this over with."
Lammy and flaky walked side by side on their way to Tree Town High.
"I'm so nervous! Do I look good?" Lammy asked her friend for the third time. Flaky rolled her eyes.
"You look fine." She said again as they entered the campus. Flaky could see tons of people. Just then, someone pushed her out of the way. A pink chipmunk walking with a blue skunk pushed through. They turned towards Flaky and Lammy. The pink girl was wearing a hot pink tank top with a very short white skirt. Her friend was wearing exactly the same thing.
"Um… Excuse me?" The chipmunk asked them. Flaky looked at Lammy.
"We didn't do anything; you butted us out of the way." Lammy said, standing up for her friend. The skunk looked at Flaky with a disgusted look on her face.
"Look at this scum bag, Giggles." She said, nudging her friend, Giggles.
"Ew, look at all the dandruff. And those nasty clothes, Petunia." Giggles commented. Flaky felt ashamed. She looked down sadly. Lammy noticed.
"Don't go picking on her. You both disgust me. Matching clothes and too short skirts?" Lammy said, sticking up for her friend again. Giggles and Petunia exchanged glances.
"Come on, Petunia, let's leave these losers." Giggles told Petunia. Without another word, the two girls walked away, swinging their tails flirtingly as they passed boys. Lammy glared at them and put her hand on Flaky's shoulder.
"It's ok, Flaky." She said, trying to comfort her friend. Flaky wiped a tear from her eye and looked at her closest friend.
"Lammy, do you think I'm ugly?" She asked. Lammy sighed.
"Flaky, don't listen to those girls. You are really pretty." Flaky smiled as Lammy said that. "Now come on, let's go to our lockers." Lammy added. The two girls walked inside the main building. Flaky noticed that she got some stares. And they weren't good. Some people pointed and laughed at her. Flaky felt ashamed.
"Will this ever end?" She thought to herself bitterly.
"Here we go. Our lockers are right next to each other!" Lammy said, interrupting Flaky's thoughts. Flaky smiled and opened hers. She looked at Lammy as the girls opened their bags.
"Lammy, why do you still have that pickle?" Flaky said, smiling. Lammy laughed.
"Mr. Pickles is important to me." She responded. Lammy put her things, and the pickle, in the locker. Flaky laughed and did the same. She heard two boys walk in. One, the most outgoing of the group, was a yellow rabbit wearing a fading pink shirt that read "Only real men wear pink" with long, ripped up jeans. The next boy was a purple beaver. He was holding a football up to his chest. His shirt was long and lose, as his jeans were. The last boy really caught Flaky's eye. He was slightly taller than Flaky, with shining green fur. He was wearing a camouflaged green shirt, black pants, and combat boots, along with dog tags. He was smiling, not talking to his buddies at all. The green bear looked at Flaky. They locked eyes. He smiled slightly. Flaky blushed and looked down. Soon, they disappeared into the hall. Lammy smiled and hugged Flaky.
"Oh my god! I saw that! He looked at you and smiled!" Lammy said, obviously excited. Flaky blushed.
"Yeah, I know. Now come on, we're going to be late for class."

Flippy stirred his shake around nervously while Flaky continued stuffing her mouth with french fries. Flippy sighed from the awkward silence and rested his head on his hand.
Flippy looked up, surprised to see that all of Flaky's fries were gone.
"I guess you really were hungry." He said trying to start a conversation.
Before Flaky could answer, Giggles and Petunia stood behind her and tapped her on the shoulder.
"Hey Flaky, we're going to get going. It's starting to get late." Petunia said.
"It is? What time is it?" Flaky asked.

Flaky sat pleasantly under the shade of a tree, watching the small ducklings follow their mother. She was only afraid of ducks if they were close because she was afraid they would bite her, but from a distance she thought they were adorable.
She suddenly heard the voices and laughter of Giggles and Petunia coming closer to her. She jumped from not expecting someone else to be here too. Usually she was alone.
Giggles noticed Flaky under the tree and greeted her. "Hi Flaky!" She said in her usual cheery voice.
"H-hey." Flaky s

Flaky went home that night with a special tingly feeling in her tummy. She had never felt this way before and was so happy she had finally found love.
Flippy had come home with her after they ate their ice cream so Flaky could patch up the cut she left on his hand.
"I'm so sorry Flippy. I wish I could get rid of these stupid things." She apologized as she wrapped his hand up with white bandages. It left a deeper cut then both of them expected.
"It's okay Flaky. If I'm lucky enough, it'll leave a scar." Flippy said.
"Why would that be lucky?" Flaky asked confused as she f
